Thunderpussy w/ Hippie Death Cult

Lost Lake Presents Thunderpussy with Hippie Death Cult on Friday, November 7th. Thunderpussy: What if Thor’s Hammer of the Gods from “Immigrant Song” landed in the hands of four wise, willful, and wild women? Well, it would sound something like Thunderpussy. The quartet do the most rock ‘n’ roll thing possible and quite literally fuck up every rock ‘n’ roll stereotype you know to be true, piercing the halls of Valhalla in the process. The Seattle-based group turned into a quiet phenomenon with the endorsement of Rolling Stone and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, as well as a string of already legendary performances under their high-waisted belts. Thunderpussy is everything you want in rock – raw, spontaneous, bombastic, outrageous – and they’ve got the look, songs, musicianship and dynamic live show to take your breath away.   Hippie Death Cult: Hippie Death Cult have been described as “a journey through shameless and triumphant artistic expression, exploration and discovery” in the realms of psychedelia and riff-heavy rock n’ roll. The band hails from Portland, Oregon and during their formative years they have transitioned from a 4 piece to a more consonant power trio consisting of guitarist Eddie Brnabic, vocalist/bassist Laura Phillips and drummer Harry Silvers. In 2019 they signed to Cursed Tongue Records for the release of “111” then in 2021 signed to Heavy Psych Sounds Records to release “Circle of Days” and the Doom Sessions Vol.5 split. Both full-length albums received international critical acclaim while debuting at #1 on the Doom Charts. The band is also known for their high energy and passionate stage performances, having performed to audiences across America, Canada and Europe. They are currently in production for their 3rd studio album and are set to announce extensive tours to follow.   All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Marissa Nadler w/ Anand Wilder (of Yeasayer)

KGNU Presents Marissa Nadler with Anand Wilder (of Yeasayer) on Sunday, April 5th. Marissa Nadler: For over two decades, Marissa Nadler has carved out a singular place in the musical landscape, where ethereal folk, shadowy Americana, ambient soundscapes, shoegaze and experimental textures converge. Anchored by her unmistakable mezzo-soprano and intricate fingerstyle guitar, Nadler’s music conjures vivid emotional worlds—intimate, otherworldly, and timeless.   A prolific songwriter, Nadler has built a discography defined by spectral beauty and haunting lyricism. Her songs, dreamlike and lush, are rich with painterly imagery and emotional nuance. As The New Yorker writes, “To luxuriate in the spectral croon of Marissa Nadler is to step into a noirish world of mystery and glamour,” while AllMusic praises her “epic, aching songs, which refuse to keep tragedy at arm’s length.”    Shortly after earning her bachelors and masters degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design, Nadler released her breakthrough debut Ballads of Living and Dying (2004), a collection that announced her as a major voice in the underground. A skilled visual artist as well, Nadler’s background in painting and drawing deeply informs the cinematic scope of her songwriting.   Following her early releases, she partnered with Sacred Bones and Bella Union for July (2014), marking a new chapter in both creative clarity and critical acclaim. Albums like Strangers (2016), For My Crimes (2018), and The Path of the Clouds (2021) further expanded her sonic palette while preserving the deep emotional resonance at the core of her work. As Brooklyn Vegan notes, “Just about everything she puts out is truly mesmerizing.”Her tenth full-length album, New Radiations, arrives August 15th. Expansive, melodic, and emotionally vivid, it captures Nadler at her most personal and visionary—an artist continuallyevolving, yet unmistakeable.   Anand Wilder: Anand Wilder is best known as co-founder of the 00’s indie rock band Yeasayer. In 2022, Wilder released his post-Yeasayer debut solo album, I Don’t  Know My Words, on Last Gang Records, largely heralded by the likes of Pitchfork, NPR Music, and NME for bringing to mind the acoustic   instrumentation and precise arrangements of Donovan, T. Rex, Aldous Harding, Elliott Smith and Fairport Convention. His most recent project, Psychic Lessons (out 8/22 via  LAST GANG), is a swirling indie-psychedelic pop journey blending lush textures and haunting melodies. Known for shaping the experimental pop sound of the 2010s, Wilder channels his boundary-pushing instincts into a cinematic solo vision. Fans of Yeasayer, Panda Bear, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Grizzly Bear will find a new obsession here.   All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Color Green & Rich Ruth w/ The Crooked Rugs

Lost Lake Presents Color Green and Rich Ruth with The Crooked Rugs on Tuesday, November 4 — For the California-based quartet Color Green, playing music together is all about stepping into the unknown. “When we play live, I don’t really know what’s going to happen,” says Noah Kohll, one of the band’s two guitarists and four vocalists. “You really have no idea what you’re going to get with this band, which keeps things fresh for us and maybe makes the live experience special.” In a very short time, they have developed a word-of-mouth reputation as a dynamic and unpredictable live act, grounding their cosmic jams in earthy melodies and drawing from ‘60s SoCal folk-r0ck, ‘70s classic rock, ‘80s underground rock, ‘90s psychedelic dance-rock, and any other sound that catches their ears. Adaptable onstage and off, Color Green has shared stages with a range of groups that reflect both the sophistication and the wild malleability of their sound, including Fuzz, Kikagaku Moyo, Circles Around the Sun, Hiss Golden Messenger, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Yet, because they see boundless possibilities from one note to the next, they anchor their music in the urgent present rather than the distant past. Color Green can be a million different bands without losing their essential hue. They capture that wild, mercurial quality on Fool’s Parade, a meditation on loss, grief, confusion, frustration, and the clarity to which they all lead. The album has the dynamic of a tight live set, full of ebbs and flows, highs and lows, quiet moments like the devastating “5:08” and reckless jams like the epic “Kick the Bucket.” “Four Leaf Clover” bustles and shimmies like the kaleidoscopic dance rock of the Stone Roses, while closer “Hazel Eyes” recalls the elaborate orchestrations of Brian Wilson and the whimsical melodies of Buddy Holly. “We shaped it to showcase our range,” says guitarist Corey Madden. “All the songs were written together as a band. It’s the four of us in a room, and it features all of our voices. It’s one step toward what this band truly is. We spent a lot of time getting our shit together as a band, and now it’s set in stone for me.” Color Green started out as a very different, much more limited kind of group. “Me and Corey worked together in New York scooping coffee beans for a living and putting them into bags,” says Kohll. “I was living in a basement sublet, and he would come over to write and jam and record.” From those casual sessions came a self-titled EP in 2021, full of spectral jams and offerings up to Jerry Garcia, their spiritual guide. The next year they followed it up with a self-titled full-length via Aquarium Drunkard, with various friends helping to round out the songs. “These things happen in an interesting way,” says Kohll. “There’s been a lot of weird synchronization with this band. It’s all very organic. After we put out our first album, we thought, Oh, this needs to be a live band, too.”  All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final.
