Sophia Stel

Lost Lake Presents Sophia Stel on Friday, May 8th. Born in Victoria, B.C., and shaped by formative years in Vancouver, artist and producer Sophia Stel found a rapt cult fanbase with her 2024 debut EP Object Permanence, a fiercely vulnerable collection of genre-agnostic earworms fueled by her full-bodied, affecting alto. By following her intuition and going against the grain of online fads, Stel is setting trends, not chasing them — always creating from a place of true originality. Her self-directed, sometimes spur-of-the-moment digicam visuals for tracks like “I’ll Take It” and “You Could Hate Me” have the fuzzy realism of vintage photos or cherished memories: effortlessly cool without ever trying to be. In addition to earning co-signs from Troye Sivan and A.G. Cook, she recently made her runway debut at Ann Demeulemeester’s PFW SS26 show, embarked on her first headline tour, modeled for Palace Skateboards, and was selected for this year’s DAZED 100 following the release of her sophomore EP How to Win At Solitaire. Continuing to push the boundaries of today’s music landscape while honing in on a truly singular, post-genre sound that’s all her own, Stel is currently working on her debut album.   Blending the free-wheeling ethos of underground culture with the striking lyricism and honesty of indie rock, post-internet, post-genre artist Sophia Stel has the makings of a voice of a generation. A lifelong musician, she crafted her first melodies acapella before discovering an enduring love of beatmaking in high school. Following a move to Vancouver, Stel honed her production skills, passing long nights in a humble basement studio at since-shuttered DIY club Paradise (where she worked at the time), which she diligently set up and tore down again after each weekend club night. It was during this period that she embraced her lower register, a pillar of a new sense of artistic freedom that brought her closer to both a signature sound and her flourishing queer identity. Brave enough to be emotionally honest both on and off the mic, she’s further opened up in recent spreads with DAZED, The FADER, NME, and Office Magazine.   Written at the end of a three-year relationship, her latest EP How to Win At Solitaire marks Stel’s most personal and profound statement yet, buoyed by her return to an instrument she’s loved since childhood: electric guitar. The stunning result of this homecoming shines through across the record: exultant and romantic opener “Everyone Falls Asleep In Their Own Time”, cascading ballad “Taste”, and the cathartic and danceable “All My Friends Are Models”. Striking closing track “Solitaire” hits closest to home, finding Stel accepting that someone she cares about may never see all the ways she’s grown and changed. It also speaks to the sharp metaphor for living that inspired the title: “All you can try and do is move your cards with intention, and do the best you can with the cards you’re dealt.”     All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Brought to life in the small Southern Ontario town of Elmira, Chris took inspirations such as Big Thief, Goth Babe, Beach Fossils, Frightened Rabbit and Youth Lagoon and dove into producing music of his own. Now residing in Toronto Chris continues to record and produce from his DIY home studio treading his own line between Dream Pop, Rock, and Folk.   KURT TRAVIS: Kurt Travis is an American singer and songwriter celebrated for his emotive vocals and genre-blending approach to post-hardcore and experimental rock. Cure for Paranoia w/ Lane-O

Lost Lake Presents Cure for Paranoia with Lane-O on Wednesday, March 11th.   Formed in the heart of Dallas but born on the highway, Cure for Paranoia came together during a “doomsday road trip” intended to be their last. Having recently been diagnosed with bipolar paranoid schizophrenia, frontman Cameron McCloud found clarity in a hot-boxed rental car; making music with collaborators Jay Analog and Tomahawk Jonez gave him peace of mind. “He said, ‘this is my cure for paranoia.’ Instantly, everyone’s eyes lit up,” a pivotal realization that cemented the group’s moniker. Following the advice of conspiracy theorist friends, the newly christened collective had packed up and headed toward the Four Corners, a location rumored to be the ideal shelter to wait out the apocalypse. When the predicted earth-shattering meteor failed to hit, inspiration struck instead. As Jonez recalls, “On the way from Amarillo to Colorado Springs, like eight songs got written.”   Returning to Dallas with a newfound purpose, the group bypassed the traditional route to stardom, cutting their teeth on the pavement of Deep Ellum. Their reputation was built through relentless busking and electric performances at local staples like COLAB and Drugstore Cowboy. These guerrilla-style sets allowed the band to hone a razor-sharp live performance style that KXT 91.7 FM’s Alec Spicer describes as “equal parts eccentric and electric,” noting that the group “has the perfect dose for Dallas.” Their commanding artistry quickly moved them from street corners to major stages, earning the ultimate co-sign from the Queen of Neo-Soul herself, Erykah Badu. After catching her ear, the group was tapped to perform at her legendary Birthday Bash, a milestone that signaled their arrival as heavyweights in the scene.   Since then, Cure for Paranoia has shared bills with icons ranging from George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Nas to Ludacris and Leon Bridges. Their resume includes stops at SXSW, Fortress Festival, and the NPR Tiny Desk Contest “On The Road” Tour, solidifying their status as festival favorites. While keen to distance themselves from standard regional production, they cultivated a signature “Trippy Soul infused hip hop” sound—a blend prioritized on their anchor project, the Work of A.R.T. EP. This commitment to substance has resulted in sustained acclaim, including being named a three-time NPR Tiny Desk Contest finalist (2023–2025), a PrizeFest Grand Prize winner, and a fixture on The Texas Hip-Hop Top 60. With back-to-back Song of the Year wins (2024 & 2025) and a 2025 Rap Group of the Year title at the Dallas Entertainment Awards, Cure for Paranoia has proven that their survival of the apocalypse was just the beginning of their legacy.   All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Gelli Haha w/ BIG SIS

KGNU presents Gelli Haha with BIG SIS on Wednesday, May 13th. Gelli Haha exists somewhere between Studio 54 and Area 51, where dancefloors become playgrounds and cheeky aesthetics ignite imagination. A shapeshifter, a sonic acrobat, a performer with one foot in the cosmos and the other in a slapstick routine, Gelli Haha is a space for pure creative chaos.   For her opening trick, Gelli Haha presents Switcheroo  the debut album via Innovative Leisure, to be released on June 27, 2025. With a shared taste for off-kilter pop and vintage gear, producer Sean Guerin (of De Lux) joined Gelli in turning freshly-formed demos into a high-voltage experiment, abandoning meticulous structure for something freer and more electrifying. Every song on Switcheroo makes use of a myriad of recording toys; wacky analog effects, such as the Eventide Harmonizer, MXR Pitch Transposer, and various Electrix units, fashion an intentionally flawed and strictly silly texture throughout the album.   Gelli Haha’s music thrives on duality: playful but profound, tongue-in-cheek but sincere. “Bounce House” is the child-like innocence; “Spit” is the S-words-only underground-club grit. “Piss Artist” revels in tequila-fueled storytelling about an infamous party moment (involving a jar — don’t ask, just dance), while  “Normalize” feels like you’re stuck in Play-Doh.    It’s a practice in play – recording vocals mid-jump, translating drum fills into mouth sounds, granting your best friend’s wish for a song about them. A bear attack crashes through the happy-go-lucky “Dynamite”, “Funny Music” ends with a sudden “BONK!”— because why not?   The emotional rainbow stretches beyond the positive — Gelli pouts and wails on “Tiramisu”, demanding to know and feel everything, while “Pluto is not a planet it’s a restaurant” closes the album in a darker, heart-throbbing track with the repeated cry: “I’m afraid.”   Switcheroo is the soundtrack to the Gelliverse, a sensory adventure sphere created by Gelli. This live revue is an invitation into a world of dolphin balloons, flutes, mini trampolines, and a stage bathed in the project’s primary color, red  bold and full of mischief.    Gelli Haha isn’t foolproof. It’s by design. Switcheroo is an exercise in letting go, an inside joke turned theatrical spectacle. Participation is encouraged. Surrender is required.   All ages, ticketed guests under 16 ONLY ADMITTED WITH TICKETED GUARDIAN 21+ All sales are final. Check your tickets carefully, NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON Your name will be on the Will Call list the night of the show at doors time.
