Lost Lake Presents Perry Maysun – A Very Pathetic Tour with Isaiah Poet on Sunday, June 21st.
Perry Maysun is a 23-year-old alternative hip-hop artist from New York whose work explores substance abuse, mental health, and societal challenges with striking honesty and depth. His goal is to inspire listeners to practice self-compassion, encapsulated in his signature phrase, collective, and clothing brand, “BYOBF” (Be Your Own Best Friend).
His music combines intricate and intimate storytelling with groundbreaking production, resonating deeply with audiences who have faced hardship of any kind. His creative vision also extends beyond music to include poetry, clothing, short films, paintings, sculptures, making each release a fully realized artistic experience.
Perry’s dedication is unwavering. He has completed twenty four fully conceptualized albums, even while undergoing six months of chemotherapy, a full knee and partial femur replacement, and treatment for a life-threatening tumor in 2024. His work serves as a therapeutic outlet for listeners, consistently encouraging self-compassion and resilience.
Perry is brutally honest about his past, with his music diving deep into his struggles with heroin addiction, multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, suicide attempts, and being a victim of sexual violence. This, in addition to his transparency about fighting cancer, makes him relatable and inspiring to anyone.
With his most ambitious release yet, Pathetic Beasts, Perry will unveil a 27-song double album that expands his world into something both deeply confessional and visually immersive. Anchored by eight singles, each tied to a distinct color representing the emotional core of the song, the project will transform themes like grief, rage, rebirth, isolation, and self-acceptance into a cohesive sensory experience across music, visuals, and artwork. On the upcoming tour, this concept will come to life as Perry will be painted a different color each night, embodying the spirit of a specific single and turning every performance into a living expression of vulnerability, resilience, and the album’s central message: be your own best friend.
